Amanda is a Bay Area native who returned after a decade of travel and teaching to pursue her career as a Somatic Psychotherapist. She recently completed her Masters in Somatic Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and currently practices at a specialized elementary school in Oakland.
Amanda’s motivation to connect with others, near and far, stems from a lifelong draw to nature and exploring. She spent most of her twenties in movement, including a year teaching in South Korea, solo travel abroad, and a stint living in New York City. She then pursued one of her dreams and joined the Peace Corps where she served in Uganda, East Africa. There, Amanda worked in education, led high-intensity peer-support for fellow volunteers, and supported youth programs and empowerment. As a certified yoga instructor, she combined her passion for teaching and movement and introduced yoga into her community, creating a sustainable yoga program in the Southwest region of Uganda. This work was extremely impactful for Amanda and led her back to the Bay to pursue her path as a therapist. Amanda values humor, flexibility, curiosity, creativity, and believes life is best in connection and play. Amanda is truly honored to be part of the Stepping Stones community and is excited for a new adventure learning from others! |
