When Daniel Schoen first read John Muir's famous words, "The mountains are calling and I must go", he went. A 30-day trip to the Wyoming wilderness with the National Outdoor Leadership School left teenage Daniel inspired to seek a deeper connection with nature, that seeking continues today. Daniel holds a degree in Nature and Culture from UC Davis, where
he guided backcountry and white water trips for the school's student-run outdoors program. Daniel has worked as an experiential outdoor facilitator up and down the West Coast for the past decade - supporting youth in finding their unique connection to themselves as part of a wild and very exciting Earth. Daniel is a certified Wilderness First Responder and is currently in his second year of study at Weaving Earth - an educational program with a focus on deep nature connection, cultural mentoring and regenerative design. In addition to working with Stepping Stones, Daniel also mentors young people with Wilderness Torah and Early Ecology. Daniel lives in Oakland where he plays piano, engages with anti-oppression efforts, tracks the neighborhood birds and creates a bit of helpful mischief. |
