John Dorsey joined the Stepping Stones Project in November, 2019. Raised in San Diego, John graduated from the University of California with a degree in Sociology and promptly began working as a musician and writer.

John moved to the Bay Area in 2002 for a temporary job and never left. He has done stints as an office manager for holistic doctors in Berkeley and Albany and has worked as a payroll specialist and marketing assistant at an eldercare company in Oakland. Most recently, he worked for two construction companies in the Bay Area as a bookkeeper.

John believes strongly in the importance of nurturing young minds and spirits. For 15 years he taught drum and percussion on a volunteer basis to children aged 5-12 at an Oakland non-profit. He has served for the past ten years as the music director of an annual Summer meditation and yoga retreat which draws families from all over the U.S. and parts of Mexico.

A meditator for many years, John is deeply interested in the intersection of the arts, nature, and exploration of Self. His plays have been performed and he had of table reading of his most recent screenplay at the Waterhouse Playhouse and Conservatory in Berkeley.

During his off-work hours, John can be found hiking in the Oakland Hills, hanging out with friends, volunteering at a local meditation Ashram, and walking at the Emeryville Marina.
