Orion Harris has been working with Stepping Stones since 2015. He has a background in Expressive Arts Therapy and Counseling Psychology as well as the studies of Religion, Culture, and Art at UC Berkeley and College of the Redwoods. He has worked with young people since his early twenties providing education, mentorship and fun. After serving in Peace Corps in Central Asia, he traveled in India and returned to live at a Buddhist Retreat Center in his home town.
Originally from the mountains of northern California, he moved to the bay area again in 2007 where he worked with youth as a counselor and art educator, eventually attending graduate school in 2011. He has worked with a variety of populations in hospital, school, and community settings providing expressive arts, mentorship and counseling services. He has a keen interest in the innate healing and initiatory power of the arts and nature.
Trained with School of Lost Borders and Wilderness reflections in the arts of mirroring and holding medicine walks, he has also held and co-facilitated men’s groups and dream groups along with myriad expressive arts groups. Orion is a longtime meditator and active participant in a local sweatlodge community. He has a passion for contacting and awakening the individual’s Soul through play and presence.
