Patrick Ford is thrilled to be a Stepping Stones Leader. The program is a natural fit for his desire to work with youth in a holistic and genuine way and to provide the important (yet often overlooked) service of mentorship. He has been working with youth since 2003 through leading 2-7 day wilderness backpacking trips. Since 2010, he also has co-led a vision quest program to the Eastern Sierran desert for graduating high school seniors seeking a rite of passage to adulthood. He loves assisting his outdoor students to find their own connection with nature, to interact with each other in intentional and genuine ways, and to have a lot of fun.
Patrick has a multitude of personal, spiritual, practical, and whimsical interests that he passionately pursues. While a student at UC Berkeley, Patrick helped to facilitate a mediation class, focused on an interdisciplinary degree in environmental studies, and acted as the president of a nonprofit founded in 1933 that provides cooperative housing to students. He continues his love of silent sitting, civic engagement, and nonprofit and small business every day.
