Sandra has held leadership roles in education-based nonprofits for more than ten years, including as the executive director of a professional trade association and as the chief operating officer of an organization for mathematics research, assessment, and intervention. She holds a Master of Public & Nonprofit Administration and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership. More than anything, Sandra values connecting people to resources.
Committed to youth development, she has served as a health instructor at the Annex Teen Clinic, a creative mentor at Art Buddies for Creative Causes, and as a volunteer tutor for high poverty students within the Minneapolis Public School District. Spiritually engaged in the world around her, she’s stumbled through ashrams and yoga sites in the lush Himalayas of India, had her breath taken away by incredible whirling dervishes while living in Cairo, and sat in quiet humblestruck under enormous stone columns in the crisp night skies of Petra. She enjoys writing, gardening, spending time in nearly any kitchen, and foraging for food whenever appropriate. In the words of George Washington Carver, “I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station...which speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.” Sandra relocated to the Bay Area in 2016 largely for its natural bounty. Delighted to be here, she only hopes the magical creature that is called a firefly will one day join her in crossing over the Rockies. A marvel you are, little bug, bringing electricity everywhere you go. |
