Yoshi is an artist, MFT intern, wilderness guide, educator, camp counselor for adults, spiritual seeker and general explorer. She is deeply engaged in work that brings people (and herself) back into alignment with their truest selves.
She is passionate about working with people who are in potent times of transition in their lives. For 3 years she served as a Wilderness Guide for “At risk youth” in the Utah desert. Through the heat, wind, rain and snow, she witnessed hundreds of teens grow into themselves as they shed layers of pain and discontent and stepped into their becoming. This transformational experience led Yoshi to the development of Nature Sages, a Rites of Passage program for teens at Sienna Ranch, and Wandergirls, an arts and nature connection summer camp that encourages adolescent girls to follow their “inner compass”. Yoshi is dedicated to the positive development of youth, and swears that she gets as much as she gives in inspiration and lessons learned from the youth that she works with.
Yoshi ’s work with adults has included 3 summers of being a Camp Counselor for adult summer camp, Camp Grounded, where she saw the incredible impact of giving a “grown up” permission to play. She has also provided therapy and led art and music therapy groups at a medical hospital and alzheimer’s residence. Her emphasis in both positions was to be present to the current situation at hand and to improve the quality of life within those parameters.
Yoshi received her Masters in Counseling with an emphasis in Expressive Arts Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2016. She currently works as an MFT intern, providing play therapy to the clients of The Child Therapy Institute, and as a Mentor to youth transitioning home from residential treatment centers with East Gate Mentoring. She is excited and honored to join the Stepping Stones Community!
